Realistically, there’s not a whole lot left to learn about the Lenovo Legion Go 2. In the run-up to IFA Berlin 2025 (and Lenovo Innovation World ’25), leaked promotional slides revealed most of the specifications, though we’re still waiting for a concrete release date and price tag(s). We say tags because we currently expect both a Z2 Extreme and a Z2 (non-Extreme) model.
The Legion Go 2 has some interesting specs. The leaked slides confirm the lower resolution compared to the original, which we first saw on the prototype Lenovo unveiled at CES in January. Still, its 1200p screen is higher res than the ROG Ally series (including the new Xbox models) and the Steam Deck. Legion Go 2 retains its large 8.8″ screen size, too.
Lenovo Legion Go 2 makes an appearance on stage
Lenovo Innovation World ’25 kicks off at 8 AM in Berlin on September 5, which means you can catch in at 11 PM (PST) the night before if you’re on the U.S. West Coast. Be sure to follow the countdown here if you’re interested in tuning in. In any case, that should set the stage for a full Legion Go 2 reveal (hopefully with more pricing and release date details).
A short and snappy reveal has already happened – Matt Swider of The Shortcut captured the footage, so all credit goes to him.

“Gen 2 is officially here. So, our first generation showed us just how much gamers value flexibility. Whether that’s playing on the sofa, on the train, or anywhere in between. Now Legion Go gen 2 builds on that foundation with new detachable TrueStrike controllers, featuring FPS mode, a vibrant OLED display, and a larger battery for longer gaming sessions. And, with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, it delivers smooth, high FPS gameplay, anywhere and anytime.”

Overall, the Legion Go 2 is looking for a solid improvement over the original. Yes, the lower screen resolution might disappoint you, but you need to remember that games will now be easier to run at max resolution. This is especially important as some modern AAA games have already gotten too hard to run smoothly on existing handhelds (looking at you, DOOM: The Dark Ages and Monster Hunter Wilds).
The switch to an OLED panel is a very welcome change, especially when we know ASUS hasn’t done the same with its rival ROG Ally series. The hardware powering the device has also been upgraded as a whole, with double the RAM, much-improved battery capacity, and, of course, the switch from Ryzen Z1 to the new Z2 series.
